This article provides details about the Add Shape tool.

Description

The Add Shape Tool allows primitive shapes to be quickly added to a scene.

Usage

To use the Add Shape Tool, first hover over the Add Menu in the bottom left corner of the CAD interface. The menu will expand to show the tool:

Click the Add Shape icon to expand the list of primitive shapes:

Clicking on any of the shape icons will trigger a dialog box to build that shape. Each dialog box provides fields for shape-specific parameters and position. Add the shape to the scene by clicking the checkmark button on the bottom right of the shape dialog.

Cube

The cube builder will create a rectangular prism defined by the following parameters:

  • dx: The length of the rectangular prism in the X direction
  • dy: The length of the rectangular prism in the Y direction
  • dz: The length of the rectangular prism in the Z direction

Cone

The cone builder will create a right, circular, truncated cone defined by the following parameters:

  • r1: The radius of the base of the cone
  • r2: The radius of the top of the cone
  • h: The height of the cone measured along the Z axis

Sphere

The sphere builder will create a sphere defined by the following parameters:

  • r: The radius of the sphere

Cylinder

The cylinder builder will create a right, circular cylinder defined by the following parameters:

  • r: The radius of the cylinder
  • h: The height of the cylinder measured along the Z axis

Torus

The torus builder will create a solid torus defined by the following parameters:

  • r1: The radius of the torus measured from its origin
  • r2: The radius of the circular profile used to sweep the torus
